“Blessed is the wealth of the Muslim, from which he gives to the poor, the orphan and the wayfarer.” [Hadith – Muslim]

There are over 150 million children worldwide that have experienced the loss of their parents, and the numbers are only rising. Innocent orphans everywhere are vulnerable to poverty, hunger, disease and exploitation – like losing a parent isn’t hard enough!

Through an individual orphan sponsorship, a donor pays £336 annually to provide basic necessities and education for an orphan. This pays for:

“Blessed is the wealth of the Muslim, from which he gives to the poor, the orphan and the wayfarer.”

[Hadith – Muslim]

Sponsor an orphan today!

There are numerous verses in the Holy Quran where Allah (swt) emphasised about taking care of orphans, protecting their wealth and honour, respecting them and feeding them. In Surah Baqarah, Ayat 177, Allah (swt) says:

“Righteousness is not in turning your faces towards the east or the west. Rather, the righteous are those who believe in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Books, and the prophets; who give charity out of their cherished wealth to relatives, orphans, the poor, needy travellers, beggars, and for freeing captives; who establish prayer, pay alms-tax, and keep the pledges they make; and who are patient in times of suffering, adversity, and in the heat of battle. It is they who are true in faith, and it is they who are mindful of Allah.”

Abu Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Bring the orphan close to you, pat his head, and feed him with the same food you eat. It will soften your heart and fulfil your need.

How many orphans in the world and what is happening to them?

There are 153 million orphans in the world. (UNICEF)

Any child living in poverty without father is a likely victim of child labour and forced marriage due to lack of access to education, healthcare, and nutrition.

Act with FRDP International to help orphans!

The Prophet (pbuh) said, “the one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this” and he held his two fingers together to illustrate the proximity. (Bukhari)

FRDP International is providing orphan care in Pakistan and Kashmir. We work directly with the communities to identify the most vulnerable orphans to help and support them for growing into educated, skilled and moral individuals so that they may help their families get out of poverty and continuously help others the same way.
