At FRDP, we believe in a local approach to development that puts communities at the center of identifying their own needs and making decisions that will help them become self-reliant and resilient. To achieve this, we begin by mobilizing and organizing communities and forming village-level communities (VDCs).
Our goal is to develop full-scale community development models that inspire collective action for sustainable development. Sustainable community engagement is essential to achieving this goal. It involves working with local communities to identify their needs and priorities, and then co-creating solutions that address those needs in a sustainable way.
One of the key benefits of sustainable community engagement is that it empowers communities to take ownership of their own development. By involving them in the decision-making process and giving them the resources and support they need to implement solutions, they are able to become active participants in the development process, rather than passive recipients of aid.
Another important aspect of the FRDP’s work is in the area of disaster risk reduction. The program is working to build resilience in communities so that they are better able to cope with the impacts of climate change, such as floods and heatwaves. This includes providing training and education on disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness, as well as investing in infrastructure and other measures to reduce the risks associated with extreme weather events.
The FRDP also places a strong emphasis on community engagement and empowerment. The program works closely with local communities to identify their needs and priorities, and to develop and implement solutions that are tailored to their specific circumstances.
