Solar Powered Water Well

In the Holy Quran Allah (swt) says in Surah Al-Anbiya, Ayat 30:

“Do the disbelievers not realize that the heavens and earth were once one mass then We split them apart? And We created from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?”

Why Water?

Every living thing depends on water, yet more than a billion people begin each day without a reliable source of it. The global water crisis is a known reality, and climate change has sharpened it – heavier rains in one season, longer droughts in the next, and water tables that keep sinking further out of reach. The problem is no longer regional either; tension over rivers, channels and shared groundwater is rising between communities and across borders.

The cost is never shared equally. Poor communities settle where water is hardest to find, and it is women and children who pay for that in hours – hours spent walking, waiting and hauling instead of learning, earning or resting. Across many villages of Sindh and Tharparkar, water sits well below the surface with no power supply available to lift it.

The outcome is a catastrophe we already know how to prevent, and one that is affecting global food security:

  • Around 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to water.
  • 2.7 billion people face water scarcity for at least one month of the year.
  • 2.4 billion people are exposed to disease because sanitation is inadequate.
  • Two million people, most of them children, die every year from water-borne illness alone.
