Sheltering Dreams & Bringing Water to Life: FRDP’s Field Visit to Mirpurkhas and Umerkot

Date: Aug-11-2025
Locations: Mirpurkhas & Umerkot, Sindh

In late July, the FRDP team, alongside our valued partners from Droplet of Mercy, embarked on a field visit that underscored the true meaning of humanitarian commitment and sustainable community development. Over two impactful days, the teams visited the “Village of Hope” in Mirpurkhas District as well as multiple clean water projects in Umerkot District — meeting with the very people whose lives have been transformed through these initiatives.

A Journey of Listening and Learning

The visit was not just about seeing completed projects; it was about connecting with communities on a deeper level. The teams engaged in open discussions with beneficiaries to understand:

Community needs — what challenges still remain.

Actions taken — the steps FRDP and partners have already implemented.

Changes observed — the positive impacts and transformations in daily life.

Sustainability goals — ensuring these projects continue to serve for years to come.

Celebrating Impact in the “Village of Hope”

In Mirpurkhas, the Village of Hope stands as a living testament to what can be achieved when compassion meets action. From providing shelter to empowering families, this initiative has brought dignity, security, and a renewed sense of purpose to those who once faced unimaginable hardship.

Clean Water: The Heart of Umerkot’s Progress

The water projects in Umerkot have done more than quench thirst; they have restored health, reduced waterborne diseases, and given women and children back the time once lost to fetching water from distant, unsafe sources. Clean water has become the foundation for better hygiene, stronger livelihoods, and improved education attendance.

Commendation for Excellence

The visiting team from Droplet of Mercy praised FRDP for:

Reaching the most vulnerable populations in remote areas.

Ensuring inclusive stakeholder engagement in every phase.

Delivering quality results that create lasting impact.

Their acknowledgment reaffirms FRDP’s commitment to serving humanity with integrity, compassion, and measurable change.

Looking Ahead

While these visits celebrated achievements, they also sparked discussions about what more can be done. The communities, FRDP, and partners are now charting a course for long-term sustainability — ensuring that the shelters remain safe havens and water projects continue to flow with life-giving purpose.

Together, we are sheltering dreams, bringing water to life, and empowering communities for a stronger tomorrow.
